We believe that good governance comes down to ensuring the right authority, control and direction is in place. To this end, we’ve begun a process of transformation of governance of the Centre for Spiritual Living Saskatoon. Obviously, this is not the place to lay out extensive details but we do feel it’s worth sharing what these core ideas mean.
Authority: The right empowerment at the right level. Good governance ensures that the right people are authorized to govern the organization in the right way.
Control: The right controls in place to ensure the right work is done. Good governance ensures that the right controls are in place so that the membership knows the organization is governed appropriately.
Direction: Setting the right work to meet the demands of the membership. Good governance ensures that that decisions made by the board align with the wishes of the membership, and in the context of the purpose and by-laws of the organization. The purpose of a Centre for Spiritual Living is a spiritual one, operating in the context of an organization.
